The Story

Grima opens in a classroom, but something feels off. The students are playing a game of sevenup where they sit with their heads down and eyes closed while someone taps them on the back of their head. However, one of the students, Jen, opens her eyes which angers the teacher, Miss Finster. Jen apologizes, which frustrates Miss Finster even more.

Miss Finster, scolds Jen for speaking and has her stand in front of the class and read the rules on the chalkboard: Keep your head down, eyes closed, and do not speak. Miss Finster asks Jen if her head was down and Jen says yes. Miss Finster CLAWS her fingernails down the chalkboard, creating the most awful sound. Jen apologizes again and says it wasn’t down the whole time.

Miss Finster asks if her eyes were open and Jen lies again. Miss Finster CLAWS the board again and the sound gets worse. Miss Finster starts to ask a third question, but Jen answers with the truth. Miss Finster nods with approval, pleased Jen can tell the truth.

Jen wakes up in her bed sweaty from a nightmare. She takes a moment to compose herself then lays back down and checks her phone. She sees a bunch of missed calls from Sasha and gives her a call.

The two catch up and Sasha reveals she got into a fight with her boyfriend and wanted to come sleep over. Jen apologizes and explains she’s had trouble sleeping and keeps having this reoccurring dream they’re back in - but before she can finish Sasha cuts her off and explains she’s been having the same dream.

After a moment of silence, the sinister voice of Miss Finster comes through the phone and asks Jen what the two of them did to Mirabel Martinez. This of course is followed by the sound of nails on a chalkboard leaving us with the sensation of grima.

Miss Finster then asks what happened to her former classmate, Mirabel Martinez, which confuses Jen causing her to say I don’t know. SCREETCH! The nails on a chalkboard intensify again. Miss Finster scolds Jen asking if she doesn’t know or doesn’t want to remember.

Jen begs Miss Finster to stop, but the sounds refuse to relent. Jen turns to the class, but only one student is there now, a badly burnt Mirabel Martinez. Miss Finster transforms into a terrifying monster with a sinister voice and asks Jen what happened to Mirabel. Jen tries to close her eyes, but Miss Finster takes Jen’s hand and pins it to the chalkboard.

Jen’s nails scratch down the board as her fingernails begin to snap off, her skin peels back down her fingers, palm, and up her arm like she’s being filleted. Just before it reaches her face…
